#MusicMonday - "Working For The Weekend" by Loverboy

#MusicMonday this week is dedicated to "Working For The Weekend" by Loverboy, a Canadian rock band formed in 1979 in Calgary, Alberta.

A special edition in honor of Labor Day, declared by the U.S. Department of Labor. "The first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country."

Everyone's watching, to see what you will do
Everyone's looking at you, oh
Everyone's wondering, will you come out tonight
Everyone's trying to get it right, get it right
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
Everyone's looking to see if it was you
Everyone wants you to come through
Everyone's hoping it'll all work out
Everyone's waiting they're holding out
Everybody's working for the weekend
Everybody wants a little romance
Everybody's goin' off the deep end
Everybody needs a second chance, oh
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go
You want a piece of my heart
You better start from start
You wanna be in the show
Come on baby lets go

#MusicMonday - "Luck" and "Home" by American Authors

#MusicMonday is dedicated to "Luck" and "Home" by American Authors. These songs have heartfelt lyrics, along with the rest of the songs on their "Oh, What A Life" album. This band has done a great job executing a well produced record that is genuine, catchy and musically robust. Give it a listen, the entire thing, or any song on their album and ride the wave of their musicianship. It's fun and if you enjoy it, you can hit repeat again and again!

How can we make amends when we said all we said?
I call and you don't pick up
How can I say instead that I hope it's for the best?
I won't, and I won't give up
I'm sorry, Mother
I know I let you down
I'm sorry for how I up and left this town
How can we push aside all the bad and make it right
Now you got me all choked up
I'm sorry, brother
I know I let you down
I'm sorry for how I up and left this town
Please just listen 'cause I don't ask for much
I am my own man, I make my own luck
How can we both pick sides when we know nothing's right?
Open up the door that's shut
How can I have my pride and drink away my soul tonight?
Sorrow's filling up my cup
I'm sorry, father
I know I let you down
I'm sorry for how I up and left this town
Please just listen 'cause I don't ask for much
I am my own man, I make my own luck
Well some birds aren't meant to be caged
And I just can't see the light of day
Please forgive me I can't remember
Please forgive me, no one is calling
Please forgive me, I can't believe it
No
Gonna pick myself up, so I don't let this ever grow
Even if I mess up, I won't let this ever go
It's hard to stay
It's hard to stay
'Cause some birds aren't meant to be caged
How can I set us free?
I'm what you taught me to be
Shouldn't that be enough?
It's time that we make amends
Let's forget the things we said
You know we were all just stuck
I'm sorry, mother
I know I let you down
I'm sorry, father
I didn't stick around
Please just listen 'cause I don't ask for much
I am my own man, I make my own luck
Please just listen 'cause I don't ask for much
Just like my old man, I make my own luck
And some birds aren't meant to be caged
And some just won't see the light of day
Please forgive me I can't remember
Please forgive me, no one is calling
Please forgive me, I can't believe it
No
Gonna pick myself up, so I don't let this ever grow
Even if I mess up, I won't let this ever go
It's hard to stay
It's hard to stay
'Cause some birds aren't meant to be caged
Please just listen 'cause I don't ask for much
I am my own man, I make my own luck
Please just listen 'cause I don't ask for much
I am my own man, I make my own luck

I've got these letters tattooed on my arm
That remind me each second of where I come from
And the long hard road to get me back home

Back to my mama who raised me up right
And back to my lady, I held every night
It's a long hard road trying to get home

I'd been gone now for too long

I'm not trying to stop a hurricane
I'm not trying to shake the ground below
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home

I'm not trying to part the ocean waves
I'm not trying to overthrow the throne
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home
I'm just trying to get home

I've got this image engraved in my mind
Of a life that I had in a whole different time
It still breathes and lives at the end of the road

I've seen mountains and valleys through my missing days
But I never once parted with how you begged me to stay
I will run down that long hard and treacherous road to get home

I'm not trying to stop a hurricane
I'm not trying to shake the ground below
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home

I'm not trying to part the ocean waves
I'm not trying to overthrow the throne
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home
I'm just trying to get home

I've been gone for so long
But my heart it carries on
As it pounds like a drum
On my journey back home

I've been gone for so long
But my heart it carries on
I won't give up

I'm not trying to stop a hurricane
I'm not trying to shake the ground below
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home

I'm not trying to part the ocean waves
I'm not trying to overthrow the throne
I'm just trying to find a way to make it back home
I'm just trying to get home

I'm just trying to get home

#MusicMonday - "Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die" by Four Year Strong

#MusicMonday is dedicated to the band Four Year Strong and their song "Heroes Get Remembered, Legends Never Die" from the Rise or Die Trying Album. The lyrics are witty and thoughtful, while the overall musicianship of the song pulls you up and pushes you back down with varying layers of vocals and drums. Enjoy this throwback from 2007!

Four Year Strong is releasing an EP on September 8th, 2017 called "Some Of You Will Like This // Some Of You Won't" - available for preorder!

They are on tour NOW in South America and return to the US in September for their 10 year anniversary tour - get tickets now!

Oh, something tells me
I'm never gonna live this one down
But I'll try but I'm gonna need a quick hand,
A sharp eye, a smooth talker
Just to play this one out to the very end.

And this is where you come in
I know, that I could count on you to walk me through
And I'm making sure that everyone who's anyone
Can be the someone that they've always wanted to.

If I couldn't get away with anything
Then how in the hell did I get here?
Say something. Say anything.
You were never the one to have something to say.
Say something. Say something. Say anything.

I've seen the best and worst of you
But we're sticking through
Because without all of the ups and downs
We've been through
You know that it's true
That I could really get sick and tired of you.

Oh, something tells me
I'm never gonna live this one down
But I'm down and out
Cause if the tensions light as a feather
Then I'd be bored stiff
We gotta mix things up a bit to keep up my interest

Sad enough to say that
Alone I could barely light a match
But together we can burn this place down.

Sorry about the mess
But when we team up, team up
We always seem to bring this place to the ground

And this is where you come in
I know, that I could count on you to walk me through
And I'm making sure that everyone who's anyone
Can be the someone that they've always wanted to.

I've seen the best and worst of you
But we're sticking through
Because without all of the ups and downs
We've been through
You know that it's true
That I could really get sick and tired of you.

But together we can burn this place down.

Sorry about the mess
But when we team up, team up
We always seem to bring this place to the ground

I've seen the best and worst of you
But we're sticking through
Because without all of the ups and downs
We've been through
You know that it's true

#MusicMonday - "Looking Up" by Paramore

#MusicMonday is dedicated to "Looking Up" by Paramore, which was off of their Brand New Eyes album that was released in 2009. In May 2017, Paramore released a new album called, After Laughter. Check it out!
Things are looking up
Oh, finally
I thought I'd never see the day
When you'd smile at me

We always pull through
Oh, when we try
I'm always wrong
But you're never right
Oh, you're never right

Honestly, can you believe
We crossed the world while it's asleep?
I'd never trade it in
'Cause I've always wanted this and
It's not a dream anymore, no
It's not a dream anymore
It's worth fighting for

Could have given up so easily
I was a few cheap shots away
From the end of me

Taken for granted
Almost everything
That I would have died for
Just yesterday
Just yesterday

Honestly, can you believe
We crossed the world while it's asleep?
I'd never trade it in
'Cause I've always wanted this and
It's not a dream anymore, no
It's not a dream anymore
It's worth fighting for

God knows the world doesn't need another band
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
But what a waste it would've been
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
I can't believe we almost hung it up
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
We're just getting started
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh, oh

Honestly, can you believe
We crossed the world while it's asleep?
I'd never trade it in
'Cause I've always wanted this and
It's not a dream anymore, no
It's not a dream anymore, no, oh
It's not a dream anymore, no, oh
It's not a dream anymore
It's worth fighting for

I can't believe we almost hung it up
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
We're just getting started
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
I can't believe we almost hung it up
Whoa, oh, oh
Whoa, oh, oh
We're just getting started
Yeah, we're just getting started

#MusicMonday - "Nothing Else Matters" Metallica Cover by Steve'n'Seagulls

#MusicMonday this week is dedicated to the cover that Steve'n'Seagulls did of "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica.
Original "Nothing Else Matters" by Metallica
So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
But I know

I never opened myself this way
Life is ours, we live it our way
All these words I don't just say
And nothing else matters

Trust I seek and I find in you
Every day for us something new
Open mind for a different view
And nothing else matters

Never cared for what they say
Never cared for games they play
Never cared for what they do
Never cared for what they know
And I know

So close no matter how far
Couldn't be much more from the heart
Forever trusting who we are
No nothing else matters
